Welcome to North Carolina Conservative Network!
This site is newly up and running (as of June 4, 2009) so check back often for updates. YOU can help build its usefulness by posting pertinent information about state and local politics/issues/candidates/ elected officials.
To help expedite growth:
1. INVITE any North Carolinian who's interested in smaller government, lower taxes and constitutional rights to join this site.
2. BE AN ACTIVE CONTRIBUTOR yourself! Be on the lookout for news of local, regional and state interest and post a comment, blog, create a discussion forum, etc.
3. Please join the group for your Congressional District, and any others that relate to the areas and issues you're interested in.
4. Send any comments, ideas or suggestions to Julie McKinney, Organizer
What you can do NOW . . .
Many concerned conservatives have been asking where to start or what they can do to make a difference. Here are some suggestions:
1. Determine whether you want to focus on local, state or national politics.
2. Choose ONE critical issue or candidate or elected official to track.
For issues, gather as much information as you can, subscribe to related blogs, be the "watchdog" for that particular issue.
For candidates, track their campaign, speak with them or their representative and find out what they stand for and what they promise to do if elected -- why are they a viable candidate and how do voters know they can count on them to maintain a conservative position?
For elected officials (those already in office), track their voting record, track news articles about them, know whether they have stayed true to conservative principles and values.
POST YOUR FINDINGS on this site (if you need assistance or suggestions, please contact Julie McKinney). Start discussions on the Forum about the person or issue you are taking on. Encourage input and support from other members.
3. Have every conservative you know join this group and be willing to participate. Participation does NOT necessarily mean attending any meetings, but it does include volunteering to do research, make phone calls, and be active in discussions on this site.
Remember that there is strength in numbers. Not one of us can focus on or track every issue. But if we "divide and conquer" we WILL make a difference -- in the 2010 elections and beyond. And in some cases, we will have an impact on items already on the floor of the current Congress. For example, fighting against nationalized health care. Fighting against amnesty for all illegals. And, as you know, many more.
